Lyn and Chris have much experience catering for weddings and functions on Banks Peninsula and in Christchurch using venues such as French Farm Winery, the Gaiety Hall, Mt Vernon Lodge, The Giant's House and The Cruising Club as well as marquees on private property.

From a dinner party of 10 in your own home to a wedding of 150 guests The Gables Catering will personalise your menu to make it a special occassion.

Cooking Demonstrations at the Gables Country House

Spring classes:

The Gables Catering hold a series of cooking demonstrations followed by scrumptuous Italian lunches.

Small groups of 10 people gather in The Gables commercial kitchen to watch Lyn and Chris prepare a range of stunning dishes, often on an Italian theme, then enjoy eating them for lunch.

Private groups of 8-10 people can book a special cooking demonstration and lunch on a topic of your choice. Topics covered so far have with balsamic vinegar and parmesan, pizza making, antipasto, gnocchi making, ricotta making and uses, chocolate, sausage making, soup and stock making, sweet short pastry, pasta making, Italian breads.

Personalised menus are specially created for groups of between 6 and 10 guests and are served in the beautiful gardens or in the charming dining room of The Gables Country House. An exclusive atmosphere with amazing food.

Superb fresh food prepared by Lyn Baynes and Chris Broome, two women chefs who have the necessary background and expertise to design a menu just for you and your particular tastes and needs.

Lyn and Chris have restored The Gables Country House, an 1850s two-storied, totara cottage at Wainui, Banks Peninsula, and have developed a beautiful, extensive garden. Private lunches, dinners and cooking demonstrations are held at The Gables with one guest room available for dinner, bed and breakfast.

Wedding and function catering is a speciality, using many venues on the peninsula and in Christchurch.

'Since 2001each winter Lyn and Chris have led personalised tours of 6 people for week-long stays in the Tuscan countryside, Sardinia and Puglia.

Previous owners of the Christchurch restaurant Six Chairs Missing, Lyn and Chris bring a sense of pure joy to the culinary art. They use only top quality, fresh, local ingredients resulting in a beautiful presentation with great flavours and textures.
